The 2024 Borgata Poker Open (BPO) ran from September 3-17 at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The 30-event series started with Event #1: $800 NLH Kickoff Deepstack, which saw Guan Huang top a 1,727-entry field ($1,208,900 prize pool) to capture a $192,236.

Another six-figure winner was Joseph Molitor, who bested a 2,837-entry field ($1,191,540 prize pool) to win Event #17: $500 Almighty Million for $103,140. Some others to claim titles were Mykhailo Lendel (Event #8: $1,250 Mirror Mystery Bounty for $60,057), Frank Brannan (Event #18: $1,140 PLO 8-Max Championship for $37,574), and Michael Lavin (Event #22: $1,140 6-Max Deep Stack Championship for $64,365).

Event #25: $3,500 Borgata Poker Open Main Event featured a $1.5 million guarantee, which it surpassed by attracting a field of 755 runners. That created a $2,340,500 prize pool and saw Alabama’s Donovan Dean come out on top to claim the replica Borgata trophy and $408,836 first-place prize, a new career-high score.

The win, which brought Dean’s lifetime tournament earnings up over $2.1 million according to the Hendon Mob, came a month after Dean took down the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Harrah’s Cherokee Main Event for $326,206.

Others to cash the tournament were Adel Jo (9th - $35,331), Samuel Taylor (11th - $27,369), Michael Rossitto (12th - $22,133), Jason Min (13th - $22,133), Kane Kalas (14th - $22,133), and Joe Gossweiler (15th - $22,133).

One of the last tournaments on the schedule was the $10,000 High Roller Experience, which attracted 20 entrants and awarded a $200,000 prize pool. The tournament ended in a heads-up deal that saw five-time bracelet winner Brian Yoon lock up $70,200 and Alex Queen $79,800 while leaving $10,000 and the trophy on the table.

It didn’t take long for Queen to close things out to claim the title and $89,800 in prize money! It was the second big win of the year for Queen, who back in January won the 2024 Borgata Winter Poker Open $5,300 Championship Event for $613,063. Coincidentally, Yoon was at that final table and finished in third place for $277,123.
