Daniel Negreanu Wins the 2013 WSOP Player of the Year Award
On Thursday, Daniel Negreanu reached the official final table of Event #8: €25,600 High Roller at the 2013 World Series of Poker Europe, earning enough points to win the 2013 WSOP Player of the Year award, according to WSOP.com.
The Canadian pro is the first two-time WSOP POY winner, earning the honors in 2004 when he made five final tables and won a gold bracelet.
In 2013, Negreanu recorded 10 cashes in WSOP events and won his fifth-career bracelet in the WSOP Asia-Pacific Main Event:

Negreanu edged out Matthew Ashton for the award. Ashton won his first career bracelet in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship ($1,774,089) and reached three other final tables during the summer. November Niner Marc McLaughlin was also a threat to win the award, but was unable to lock up a top-two finish in the high roller, busting on the bubble.
"I love things like these," said Negreanu on Day 3 of Event #8. "Points. Stats. All of it."
Kid Poker is still in contention for his sixth bracelet at the final table of the High Roller, and once he is available for comment PokerNews will provided his insight as soon as possible.
