MGM Grand Poker Room Details
The MGM Grand is one of the most iconic and legendary casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. Not only is the 6,852-room mega resort a fantastic spot for gambling, dining, and catching a world-famous Las Vegas show, it is also home to one of the best poker rooms in town.
MGM Grand opened in 1993 under the company MGM Grand Inc. (now owned by MGM Resorts). At the time, it was the largest hotel complex in the world and incorporated a "Wizard of Oz" theme to attract more families to the hotel. That strategy didn't pay off as expected and the Wizard of Oz theme was dropped to appease the adult crowd instead.
The resort, inside its famous MGM Grand Garden Arena, has played host to some of the biggest concerts, boxing, and UFC events over the years. On top of the shows and attractions inside the casino, along with the clean and comfortable hotel rooms, there are so many delicious places to eat at MGM Grand, including restaurants (i.e. the Food Court) affordable to visitors on a budget all the way up to fine dining establishments such as Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak, one of the top steakhouses in town.
Locals and tourists alike love the modern-style poker room at MGM Grand, which features 13 tables, daily low-stakes tournaments, and plenty of cash games, mostly of the $1/$3 and $2/$5 no-limit hold'em variety.

Cash Games at MGM Grand Las Vegas
MGM Resorts has a lengthy history of producing excellent poker rooms that offer some of the best cash games in the world. MGM Grand's poker room is no different. For the most part, the room attracts the low-stakes crowd, although that isn't always the case, especially during the World Series of Poker when some of the higher stakes players join the action.
On any given day, you'll find multiple $1/$3 no-limit hold'em games spread, along with at least one or two $2/$5 NLH games, and also a $5/$10 NLH game (not everyday, however).
The poker room attracts both the local grinders and the recreational tourists. It's a good mix of players, which makes for a pleasant environment for everyone involved.
Cash Games:
Game | Stakes |
NL Hold'em | $1/$2 |
NL Hold'em | $2/$5 |
NL Hold'em | $5/$10 |
MGM Grand Tournaments
There's far more to MGM Grand's poker room than just its juicy cash games. Justin Hammer, the former tournament director at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, was hired in summer of 2022 to spice up the tournament offerings at the MGM Resorts-owned card room.
Hammer introduced the first ever MGM Summer Tournament Poker Series in 2022, a nice change of pace for the card room that typically only spreads cash games during the WSOP. This year's series paid out over $9 million in cash prizes. Look for future similar events to be added at MGM Grand going forward.
Featured Tournaments:

NL Hold'em | 07:05 PM | $80 | Sunday through Thursday |
NL Hold'em Turbo | 02:05 PM | $50 | Daily |
